Dometic Refrigerator Repair in Las Vegas

Dometic builds more of your coach than most owners realize — refrigerator, air conditioner, awning, and often the water and tank panel too. When the fridge goes down we diagnose it on site, and we can look at the rest of the Dometic equipment while we're there.

What we see most

Check light on, no cooling — a lockout after a failed ignition attempt is a different problem from a dead cooling unit
Cools on one power source but not the other — narrows it to the element or the gas side immediately — and away from the expensive answer
Cools, but never quite enough in summer — often airflow and vent stack rather than the appliance
Fridge section warm, freezer fine — thermistor placement or internal airflow. Usually a small job
Ammonia smell or yellow staining at the rear vent — a failed cooling unit. Stop using it and call us
Newer 10-series behaving oddly — the recent control architecture differs from the older RM units — it diagnoses differently

Older RM units and the newer control boards

The long-running RM and DM series absorption refrigerators are well understood, well supported, and mostly fail in predictable places — boards, elements, igniters, thermistors and eventually the cooling unit.

Dometic's more recent refrigerators use a different control architecture, and they do not troubleshoot the same way. Applying old-RM logic to a new unit is a good way to replace a part that was never the problem. We diagnose to the unit in front of us.

Check the vent before you condemn the fridge

Absorption refrigerators shed heat through a rear vent stack, and in this climate that stack is doing considerably more work than the designers assumed. Blocked, poorly ventilated or sun-loaded, a perfectly healthy Dometic will read as failing.

It is worth ruling out first because it is cheap, and because replacing a cooling unit that was never faulty is the most expensive mistake available on this appliance.

While we're in there

If your coach is Dometic throughout, a fridge call is a sensible time to look at the rest of it — the roof air, the awning, the water and tank panel. Not upselling, just a second trip you don't have to pay a service call for.

We also check model and serial against open recalls as a matter of routine on any absorption refrigerator.

Common questions

How do I know if it's the cooling unit or the board?

The quickest tell is whether it cools on one power source and not the other — that points at the element or gas side, not the cooling unit. If it won't cool on either, the cooling unit becomes likely, but we confirm it before anyone commits to that repair.

Do you work on Dometic air conditioners too?

Is the newer Dometic fridge more reliable in heat?

The newer units generally handle high ambient temperatures better than the older absorption designs, but airflow and vent clearance still govern real-world performance here more than the model year does.

Can you get parts?

Dometic parts are widely available and we stock the common failure items on the truck, so a lot of these finish in one visit.
